SK Sungai Padas Visit to BSBCC (30th October 2019)

It all begins with an idea.

Today on the 30th October 2019, a group of Primary 6 students came to BSBCC for an educational visit. The group, coming from SK Sungai Padas, which is a school that we reached out earlier in this month on the 1st of October, comes to see by their own eyes the beauty and cuteness of the sun bear. During the outreach, they were only being able to see the bears in the photos; now at the Centre, they got the opportunity to see the REAL bears in the forest enclosures. Luckily for them the weather was cloudy and lot of bears visible; some were very close to the viewing platform. We hope this will be inspiring the students to love our nature and wildlife more; they are the future generation that will be inheriting the world from us and continuing the job that we are doing now. Thank you SK Sungai Padas!

Bornean Bird Festival 2019 (26th-27th Oct 2019)

The 11th Bornean Bird Festival had been held for two-days on the 26th till 27th October 2019 this year and BSBCC had been invited to set up exhibition booth and mini merchandise shop for the event. The festival, with the theme ‘Our Birds, Our Heritage’ attracted lots of visitors and exhibitors with lots of activities such as birds spotting, tree climbing, zipline crossing and many more even though the two days were rainy and the ground was muddy. For BSBCC, this is a good time and good place to share information to visitors about the Bornean sun bears. As a centre for Environmental Education, RDC has been cooperating with lots of NGOs and agencies to spread the information and love to the environment and the wildlife. It is such a good time and opportunity offered to us; we hope we will be able to co-operate on any future environmental education event. Thank you!

SK Jeroco, Lahad Datu and SK Wakuba, Tawau Visit to BSBCC

Today on the 26th October 2019, BSBCC received two visits from two different schools; SK Jeroco, Lahad Datu and SK Wakuba, Tawau. They came simultaneously; they enjoyed watching the bears as the weather was cloudy with brief shower. A good way to educate the kids is by showing them the real wildlife in front of them; it can develop loves and make them care about them. Thank you to both schools for the visits.
