Visit from Australian Assistant Minister for Defense, Hon Matt Thislethwaite MP

On the 25th of April 2024, BSBCC received a visit from Australian Assistant Minister for Defense, Hon Matt Thistlethwaite MP.

The delegate attended the ANZAC Day celebration in Sandakan before dropping by at Sepilok to visit BSBCC and the Sepilok Orangutan Rehabilitation Centre (SORC). Mr Haniff from BSBCC Education Unit guided the delegate on an informative tour to the observation platforms, observing some of the bears while exchanging information.

Sook Lake Forest Reserve Open Day

27th April 2024: The Sabah Forestry Department hosted an open day and a launch celebration for the Sook Lake Forest Reserve, and BSBCC took part in the exhibition and environmental education activity.

Several schools were invited to the event, and there were activities to engage the students and spread awareness of wildlife and forest conservation/protection in Sabah.

BSBCC is inviting children (aged 7–12 years old) to join the 𝐒𝐮𝐧 𝐁𝐞𝐚𝐫 𝐂𝐨𝐥𝐥𝐚𝐠𝐞 𝐌𝐚𝐤𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐂𝐨𝐧𝐭𝐞𝐬𝐭. This contest will unleash the participant's creativity, as they are free to use any materials suitable for the collage art.

𝐀 𝐭𝐞𝐦𝐩𝐥𝐚𝐭𝐞 𝐟𝐨𝐫 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐬𝐮𝐧 𝐛𝐞𝐚𝐫 𝐜𝐨𝐥𝐥𝐚𝐠𝐞 𝐜𝐚𝐧 𝐛𝐞 𝐝𝐨𝐰𝐧𝐥𝐨𝐚𝐝𝐞𝐝 𝐛𝐞𝐥𝐨𝐰, 𝐚𝐧𝐝 𝐩𝐚𝐫𝐭𝐢𝐜𝐢𝐩𝐚𝐧𝐭𝐬 𝐚𝐫𝐞 𝐫𝐞𝐪𝐮𝐢𝐫𝐞𝐝 𝐭𝐨 𝐩𝐫𝐢𝐧𝐭 𝐨𝐧 𝐀𝟒-𝐬𝐢𝐳𝐞𝐝 𝐩𝐚𝐩𝐞𝐫 𝐚𝐧𝐝 𝐮𝐬𝐞 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐭𝐞𝐦𝐩𝐥𝐚𝐭𝐞. All submitted entries must be in a high-quality photo in JPEG or PNG format with a maximum size of 10MB or in a 10-second clear HD video showing the details of the artwork.

BSBCC is calling on students (aged 13–17 years old) to create an 𝐢𝐧𝐟𝐨𝐠𝐫𝐚𝐩𝐡𝐢𝐜 𝐩𝐨𝐬𝐭𝐞𝐫 𝐭𝐡𝐚𝐭 𝐡𝐢𝐠𝐡𝐥𝐢𝐠𝐡𝐭𝐬 𝐚𝐧𝐲 𝐭𝐨𝐩𝐢𝐜 𝐚𝐛𝐨𝐮𝐭 𝐬𝐮𝐧 𝐛𝐞𝐚𝐫𝐬 𝐢𝐧 𝐜𝐞𝐥𝐞𝐛𝐫𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧 𝐨𝐟 𝐈𝐧𝐭𝐞𝐫𝐧𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧𝐚𝐥 𝐒𝐮𝐧 𝐁𝐞𝐚𝐫 𝟐𝟎𝟐𝟒. The contest requires two people per group, and all submitted entries must be in the file format of PNG with a maximum size of 10MB.
