RESCUE BEAR 40
SUSIE2 (Beruang 35)
AGE : 12 Years Old
MEANING OF NAME: Name was given to her by her previous owner who surrendered her to the BSBCC.
HISTORY: Susie 2 came to the centre on the 15th July 2014. She was kept illegally as a pet by an individual who bought her from the Pensiangan Village in the Keningau district when she is still a cub. He paid RM 200 for Susie 2. The owner’s son then surrendered Susie to the Sabah Wildlife Department on June 2014. The previous owner fed her primarily rice, meat, honey and fruits.
PERSONALITY: In August 2015, we introduced Susie 2 to the other sub-adult bears and were pleased to see her get along well with all the bears. Susie 2 is comfortable around Bintang. Susie 2 will sometimes let Bintang suckle on her, and she will groom her back, feeling comforted around each other. Susie 2 has blossomed into a happy bear. She can be short-tempered and rather sensitive as she is aware when strangers are around. She is a bear who will walk backwards once alerted.
Nevertheless, she is calm, quiet and loves the outdoors! She enjoys staying in the forest and is already picking out some favourite spots. She will dig, groom and rest in the bushes for shade in the forest. When food is present, especially her favourite variety of fruits, she can smell it from far away and come for the food. It will take a long time for her to get comfortable with her newfound freedom, but she grows more confident every day as her rehabilitation continues.
IDENTIFYING MARKS OR TRAITS: Susie 2 has a large and broad chest mark with a “meteor” at the middle of her body. She has a tendency to pace.
Susie 2 is available for MY BEAR adoption.
