RESCUE BEAR 23
MAMATAI
AGE : At least 22 Years Old
Name meaning: Probably named “Mamatai” (in Dusun language) due to her previous aggressive attitude.
History: Used to be in Sepilok before being sent to the Lok Kawi Wildlife Zoo. Mamatai came back to Sepilok in November 2010.
Personality: Mamatai is adorable and downright cute with her big grey beautiful eyes. Due to her poor dental condition, Mamatai has moved to the quarantine area. Even there, Mamatai is a happy go lucky bear who loves to greet the forest in the morning! She loves to stay in the basket facing the forest.
Breaking dead wood and playing with leaves seem to be her favourite. She loves basking in the sun and taking naps. When she is given leaves she will build a nest in the basket. Yoga exercise is her favourite activity; it will make her feel younger and look great! Mamatai moves around very slowly. Her appetite is quite small. She is a very slow eater. She will keep her food, and only eat it when she is hungry. She does not like to eat her vegetables though.
Identifying mark or trait: Mamatai has unusually short legs which are believed to be caused by the small cage where she used to stay before she was transferred to the centre. She has a very black nose, and a small, longish face compared to her favorite companion, Wan-wan.
