RESCUE BEAR 69
KWONG
KWONG
AGE : 2 Years Old
SEX: Male
Name meaning: Name was given to him by his previous owner.
History: According to the history provided by Jabatan Hidupan Liar (Keningau), Kwong was bought by a villager from Keningau out of sympathy to avoid being killed for food. The villager hand raised him for several months before surrendering him to JHL on the 20th of September 2022. He was then transferred to Lok Kawi Wildlife Park (LKWP) and on the 1st August 2023 arrived at his new home - BSBCC.
Personality: Despite his traumatic past, Kwong was in good health condition when he arrived at our centre. He was bright, alert, calm and tame. He showed no signs of aggression or fear towards humans. He was curious and interested in his new surroundings. Currently, Kwong is still not used to his new home but hopefully with the efforts of our team he will feel right at home.
Kwong has a bad habit of suckling his foot very loudly. This happens when he feels stressed and wants to soothe himself. When given lots of enrichments in his cage to keep him mentally stimulated and occupied, this behaviour lessens. We hope that eventually Kwong will grow out of this behaviour and be able to be released into the forest enclosure!
Since his arrival, Kwong has been doing very well and slowly getting used to his new keepers. He is very friendly towards them and loves to play with new enrichment items given to him. He has adapted to the diet of various veggies and fruits and seems to enjoy all the foods given. No picky eaters here!
