RESCUE BEAR 41
CHIN
AGE : 17 Years Old
MEANING OF NAME: Named after the primary school’s mini zoo she was rescued from.
HISTORY: She arrived at the BSBCC from Lok Kawi Wildlife Zoo on the July 22nd ,2014. Chin was rescued from Tawau district in the South Eastern of Sabah. Chin was kept at the primary school’s mini zoo for a very long time and was displayed illegally in a small metal cage. She was previously fed with fruit, bread and milk while she was kept at the school.
PERSONALITY: It is believed that Chin was never given any enrichment when she was kept at a primary school’s mini zoo which explains her curious behaviour towards enrichment activities. Here at the centre she is finding more and more activities to enjoy every day! She loves to tear things into pieces, such as dead logs and coconuts, and is a big fan of ginger leaves! Chin is a lovely, shy and quiet bear. She will sniff around with her pink nose and quiet eyes, looking curiously at her surroundings. She is a very calm bear. In January 2015, Chin took her first steps out into the forest. She has shown excellent skills in the forest. She forages well for insects and is slowly developing to be a more independent bear. In October 2016, Chin was introduced to Amaco. They interact well and love to play fight together. Chin can be entertained with just a simple enrichment like decayed wood and dry leaves, which can simply make her day.
