BSBCC attended a fun run, "Run Wild" and exhibition at Likas Bay, Kota Kinabalu with the theme of the wildlife conservation. The fun run featured the III Marine Expeditionary Forces Band from the US Marine Expeditionary Group. The run, organized by the US Embassy to Kuala Lumpur, with the cooperation of Kota Kinabalu City Hall and Kota Kinabalu Run Club aimes to raise awareness for the love of one of Sabah natural resources: the wildlife. The run itself sponsored by Coca-Cola and Brooks Running, who provided shirts with images of some of the wildlife can be found in Sabah, including sun bear. Big thanks to US Embassy for the invitation to such a great event!

An educational event in conjunction to the Environmental Day is organized by Petrosains and PETRONAS in Sabah State Library. Some of the objectives of this event are to instill interest and appreciation, besides promoting the sense of importance of the environmental biodiversity especially to the students, teachers, and community. This event also serves as a good platform for us to stimulate stronger network between the community, relevant government agencies, and NGOs. Thanks again for the invitation! On the 24th and 25th of October 2017, BSBCC joined a conference exhibition on the International Conference on Heart of Borneo (HoB) that was held at the Magellan Sutera Harbour Resort, Kota Kinabalu, Sabah. This two-day event organized by the Sabah Forestry Department, themed 'A Decade of HoB Initiative: Accomplishments and the Way Forward, marked the 10th year of HoB's initiatives. The event was officiated by Sabah Chief Minister Y.A.B. Tan Sri Datuk Seri Panglima Musa Haji Aman. Hundreds of participants from various organizations, sectors and higher institutions: locally and international participated in this programme. The objectives of this conference are to share the current achievements of the HoB Initiative throughout a decade of its implementation, to re-assess major activities which are critical to the HoB and the responsibilities of stakeholders by key sectors; and to streamline and coordinate actions towards realising the HoB Initiative.
BSBCC was invited to join in the Sandakan Food Festival 2017 from the 30th August to 2nd September 2017. This year the organiser has chosen Bornean Sun Bear to be the icon of this festival. Sabah's Chief Minister, Datuk Seri Panglima Haji Musa bin Haji Aman officiated this festival on the 1st September 2017. An app known as TheSandakan was launched that night and is now available for download at Google Play store. Through this app, users can search for landmarks, accomodations and restaurants within Sandakan area. Sandakan is famous because of its seafood and is also known as the City of Nature. This event helps in promoting Sandakan City as well as increasing awareness about Mother Nature, especially our sun bears, the least known bear species. During this 4 days event, many food stalls were open as well as exhibitions from participating organisations and companies.
The first ever Labuk Bay Carnival 2017 was held on today, 30th July 2017 at the Mile 19 Labuk Bay Proboscis Monkey Sanctuary. A lot of activities was held during this event and our team (BSBCC) was happy to be part of it! The Labuk Bay Carnival started off with the Fun Run 8KM and Fun Ride 20KM early at 6.30 in the morning. Other activities held were boat paddle, mini games, lucky draws and performance by Chris Aban. Besides that, booths and exhibition from the BSBCC, the Sandakan Borneo Bird Club, Artlex Centre and the Sandakan Fire & Rescue Department were also there to make this carnival to be more happening. Thanks to the organizer for inviting us to participate in this carnival and congratulations to all the winners!
On the 3rd to 4th of March 2017, BSBCC was participated in the exhibition at the Petrosains PlaySmart, Kota Kinabalu, Sabah. This is an educational event intended to promote our local community and students to learn and understand the sciences which influences the environment and to increase awareness one how one's action can impact the environment. Many workshops and activities were held such as Environ-Hunt, My Green House, Eco Superhero, Eco-BUzzer and DIY generator. Agencies from Sabah Park, Sabah Environment Protection Association, Danau Girang Field Centre Raleigh Borneo were joined this events as well. For us, this event serves a good platform the students, teachers and community to obtain valuable information to develop a sound understanding of their total wellbeing and their responsibilities to preserve environment.
