Yesterday (11th April 2018), BSBCC education team together with Sabah Wildlife Department (SWD) and Wildlife Rescue Unit visited SMK Pangiran Galpam, Sandakan the last school for the wildlife conservation awareness and education programme (Series 1) 2018 for Sandakan district for this month. Various activities were carried out including exhibition, talks, environmental games and wildlife documentary video show. All of the students enjoyed their time learning about the environment and wildlife species.
Today, BSBCC has teamed up with our partners (Wildlife Rescue Unit, Sandakan Borneo Bird Club, and Sabah Wildlife Department) to SK Sri Melanta Jaya for as part of our Wildlife Conservation Awareness and Education Programme. Educational booths were set up, with activities such as presentations and mini-games were done to spread the awareness to the schoolchildren.
Yesterday was the second day of our outreach programme around the Sandakan district for this year. BSBCC education team together with HUTAN-Kinabatangan Orangutan Conservation Programme, Wildlife Rescue Unit, Sandakan Borneo Bird Club and Reef Guardian gathered at SK Sg Kayu, Sandakan. We set up booths at the school open hall to share the informations to the students. Each organization gave an inspiring talk to students on our knowledge and our ongoing effort to save wildlife in Sabah. About 600 students from Year 1- Year 6 participated in the whole programme.
Today BSBCC's Education Team organized Sandakan Wildlife Conservation Awareness and Education Programme (Series 1) 2018 for Sandakan district together with our partners from HUTAN - Kinabatangan Orang Utan Conservation Programme (KOCP), REEF guardian, Wildlife Rescue Unit and Sandakan Borneo Bird Club. Today the school we visited was SK Batu Putih. Various activities were held during this programme such as talks, games, video show and colouring activity. Each participating organization also set up educational booth for the students and teachers to visit. Thank you to our partners from different organization for joining us to be part of the programme and we are looking forward to more programmes in the future and lastly, huge thanks to the teachers and pupils of Sekolah Kebangsaan Batu Putih for their support and participation.
In the same evening our BSBCC education team has a session with the school children of Sandakan Vision School, where the children learnt about sun bear's diet. They got to learn and understand about the type of food that sun bears eat and apply the knowledge into the activity done - where they draw what type of food that the sun bears eat. The children also get to share their findings with their friends during the group discussion. It was a fun session and the BSBCC team will be visiting the school again in two weeks. Looking forward to meet these kids again!
Students and lecturers from ILP Sandakan visited our center today and did some voluntary work where they helped in cleaning up the hand rail around our centre. We sincerely thank the lectures and students that involved this visit. Hopefully, this programme can give meaningful and valuable experiences to the students.
