RESCUE BEAR 23
AGE : At least 16 Years Old
Name meaning: Probably named “Mamatai” (in Dusun language) due to her previous aggressive attitude.
History: Used to be in Sepilok before being sent to the Lok Kawi Wildlife Zoo. Mamatai came back to Sepilok in November 2010.
Personality: She moves around very slowly compared to her favorite companion Wan-Wan. She is a very slow eater and tends to be a little territorial about her food (she does not like Wan-Wan eyeing her food). Mamatai is a gorgeous bear. We never thought a plump bear could become an expert in climbing trees. She is perfecting her arboreal skills and now regularly climbs up to the top of the tree and builds tree nests for resting, forage for food and to get a better view of the forest. Mamatai likes to do yoga exercise during rest periods.
Identifying mark or trait: Mamatai has unusually short legs which are believed to be caused by the small cage where she used to stay before she was transferred to the centre. She has a very black nose, and a small, longish face compared to her favorite companion, Wan-wan.
Mamatai is available for MY BEAR adoption.
