RESCUE BEAR 23
AGE : At least 18 Years Old
Name meaning: Probably named “Mamatai” (in Dusun language) due to her previous aggressive attitude.
History: Used to be in Sepilok before being sent to the Lok Kawi Wildlife Zoo. Mamatai came back to Sepilok in November 2010.
Personality: Mamatai is quite adorable and gorgeous with her big grey beautiful eyes. Mamatai is a happy go lucky bear who loves to greet the forest in the morning once she goes out to play! Breaking dead wood, digging deep into the soil and resting on logs seem to be her favourite activities throughout the day. She loves basking in the sun and taking a nap on her favourite spot, a dead log. We never thought a plump bear could become an expert in climbing trees. She is braver than she knows and enjoys perfecting her arboreal skills where she loves climbing up to the top of the tree to get a better view of the forest. This is a good chance for Mamatai to behave like the wild sun bear that she is. Yoga exercise is her favourite activity where it will make her feel younger and look great! Mamatai moves around very slowly compared to her favorite companion Wan-Wan. Her appetite is quite small. She is a very slow eater and tends to be a little territorial about her food (she does not like Wan-Wan eyeing her food).
Identifying mark or trait: Mamatai has unusually short legs which are believed to be caused by the small cage where she used to stay before she was transferred to the centre. She has a very black nose, and a small, longish face compared to her favorite companion, Wan-wan.
Mamatai is available for MY BEAR adoption.
